One of the most memorable events was the full moon rising over over the Humber Estuary.on the evening of December 4th. Worth missing Corrie for (not that I watch Corrie).

The school I am working at have some crazy December event that is supposed to inculcate 'enterprise' in the children. It must have sounded good on paper but all it does, as it does in the real world, is set class against class in a vicious competition to manufacture tat.. They have to suggest  'products', things that desperate parents might buy as a  Christmas present, then through a process of rigged democracy, vote for one or two of them to actually make. One of our class's choices was painted stones. Needess to say, we didn't have enough, so after school I took myself down to the sea front and collected more stones, in the dark!! With the tide coming in!! Our class had the least sales in the whole school and everyone knew it because there was there wa much naming and shaming during the 'awards' ceremony. If I had been the teacher I think I would have punched the head.

Christmas visits from sons and girlfriends meant trips out to the pub, walks on the beach, hundreds of pennies frittered away in the arcades - oh, the hedonism of it all.

Anyway, also nice was discovering the photographic delights of Grimsby Docks, coming soon in another article.

A Happy New Year to all!

You may not know the song April Showers; I do because I remember my mum singing it around the house when I was a boy. It was written in 1921 and made popular by American singer Al (Mammy!) Jolson. It...
