What a night! It was lovely to see so many ESJ staff turn out for my leaving do. It wasn't a retirement do, because I'm not retiring, but I am leaving ESJ after 20 years, so I suppose that's something,.

Inevitably, it was a curry, and Le Spice were very accommodating. I had lamb dupiaza and garlic nan - yum.

Meal over (no speeches given, none asked for), some of us retired to The Standard for

further refreshment.

A hard core of ravers kept going. Rowdy scenes in the Market Place were followed by further libations in the Hereward. I can't remember the last time I was asked to leave a pub because it was closing time.

Thank you, one and all, for your lovely company last Friday, and for your friendship over the years. It's been a blast.
