P1060323June 10th 2017. A Saturday. A cloudless sky, no breeze and roasting hot.

"Let's visit a garden."

"OK, where haven't we been lately?"

"What about Woburn Abbey? It's an hour and a bit from Ely, about 60 miles."

"Perfect. We'll do breakfast there."

And very splendid it was, too. Hardly anyone else around and no sign of the Duke of Bedford, although just after that photo was taken of me lolling on a balustrade in front of the house, one of his flunkies stormed out of the French windows and told us to eff off. Anyway. Lovely gardens.

Post script, January 2024: The whole place is shut for repairs until at least 2025 (the roof's coming off or something).
