We visited (again) Broughton House. The home of ‘Glasgow Boy’ EA Hornel, it sits in a Japanese-inspired garden and hosts an impressive collection of art.

Edward Atkinson Hornel 1864-1933) specialised in painting females, particularly young girls. He had a very distinctive artistic style; once seen, never forgotten. I have included one of his paintings in the image gallery.

The garden is lovely, by the way, and worth visiting for that alone.
