During our half term tour of the south coast, we stopped off at the Beaulieu Motor Museum, near Southampton. Neither of us has the slightest interest in looking at old bangers, but in the leaflet...

DSC03466Compton Acres is a woodland garden set on the hilly slopes to the east of Poole Harbour. It was constructed in the 1920s when the Arts and Crafts movement was in its heyday.

The paths, winding through the shrubbery, ar good although steep in places especially if you venture down into the wooded valley.

The plant centre and cafe are on the dear side, but then you'd expect that in this neck of the woods. I can recomment the sausage roll - big, fat and flaky.
