Canon Hall 005Fancied a couple of days out of NE Lincs so headed to Yourkshire. First stop, Cannon Hall, near Barnsley.

The main attraction for us was the exhibition of work by the Victorian artists William and Evelyn De Morgan.

I remembered William De Morgan's name from when we visited Cardiff Castle in 2012 and saw many examples of his superb ceramic work.

We have been fans for years after seeing an exhibition of Evelyn's work at the Watts Gallery and Artists' Village in Surrey a couple of years ago. I think it's fair to say her work is the sort of art you either love or hate, but can't ignore.

From the Cannon Hall website:

"There’s such variety to the art collections at the Museum, it’s hard not to find something to fall in love with!
From modern art glass to Georgian furniture, 17th century Dutch masterpieces to contemporary British studio ceramics, the collections span four centuries of creativity and talent."
