Coffee Cats 006We have been seeking out cat cafes for some time now. Our first was Mog on the Tyne, in Newcastle (where else?), which we first visited in 2014. I believe it is still going strong.

I first heard about cat cafes in an article by Lucy Mangan in the Guardian, who enthused over what was at the time a purely Japanese phenomenon. She had me at miaow.

Anyway, here was a cat cafe on our doorstep. Coffee Cats is great. Lovely, friendly cats, a genial host, smooth coffee and yummy cake - heaven! Five stars from me.

The place is bijou and crammed full of STUFF. The decor has a strong ragnarok vibe, like a

cross between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings with more cats. I thought it charming. Bring your pocket money and pig out on the badges, mugs, cards, fridge magnets etc.
